Though I didn’t have as much time as I would have liked on the old incarnation of my site due to being so focused on my children and in particular Bellatrix and the health problems that she had as soon as she was born, I still loved my site and attempted to post something useful or an insight at least once a week. That was until I messed it up last year trying to update the darn thing and then messing up a new installation even further attempting to re input a sql file with all the old posts. Note to self (next time get a pro, lol)
Now though I have more time, Bellatrix is 3 today, healthy as a fiddle, and on a good schedule, Stephan and Madeline are doing their teenage thing and seem to only want “space” and a few bucks to go to the Blue Store (a local gas and convince store here in Jacksonville) so unless I’m roping them into family time I’ve got extra time to myself to do what I love (besides coffee and my family)… Craft.
I thought I would just put it out there where my site is going so that people will have an idea of what they might like to do. My main crafting interests are in Sewing, Painting, Recycling, Polymer Clay, Machine Knitting, Crocheting, and Kid Friendly Crafts; for the most part these are going to be the things you’ll see the most often here at TheManicCrafter.com.
Some tentative projects for 2010 are
- The Pajama Project – an at least once a month tutorial on how to sew yourself some serene sleep wear that makes one feel pretty. (that’s right starting this month through December we will have at least 1 new nightwear yummy a month.
- Hippie Dress Tutorials – because let’s face it they’re just fun to wear.
- Abstract Art That You Can Do (acrylics)
- Painting Your Favorite Landscape Scene (oil) How to make a painting from a photo of your favorite landscape)
- Recycled Art & Reusing
- Crochet Projects
- Knitting Machine Projects
- And More
Of course I do have other interests and will add them accordingly but as of now I see that I will be putting up 2-3 tutorials a week on various projects in these main categories.

I really enjoy what you blog about here, very fresh and smart. One problem though, I’m running Firefox on Fedora and parts of your site structure are a little off. I realize it’s not a popular setup, but it is still something to watch out for. Just tossing you a heads up.
Interesting, I’m using Firefox myself but on XP so it’s ok. The “swift” theme by Satish Gandham is out of box pretty much. Wish I could fix it but I don’t do well at crafting code, lol. I’ll drop a line to give SwiftThemes.com a heads up, and then I’m going to go check out this Fedora, I’ve never heard of it before though my brother Jon (over at http://www.voiceonyx.com) most likely has as he’s the techie in the family and I’m pretty sure running something linux on his setups
Do you plan to keep this site updated? I sure hope so… its great!
Thank you! Yes I plan on doing at least 1 dedicated project a week, and the rest is blogging without obligation because life happens and though this week is quiet who knows about next week. I do have a backup for busy weeks though as there are a number of items already in draft so that I can polish and publish within minutes for busy times.
I craft because I love it, I share because someone else might too, even if I make a difference to only one person then all my work is worth it.
Hey we have been looking for you for a long long time and have finally found you!
get ahold of us, we all knew each other in Great Lakes, Illinois.
Hey there chicka!
Great to see the site up and running again! Love the photo of the little one, is that a culunder on her head? LOL. Are you going to be able to get the old posts put back on? Just curious. Keep up the great work!
Glad to have it back up. Yes, that’s the little colander I usually use when I strain the elbow maccaroni noodles
I’m hoping that I can recover more of the posts but I just don’t know how feasible that would be at this point. It’s kinda like the site got messed up with that update for a reason and I’m able to start from scratch and make it even better ya know?
